Hello! 🙂

Today, I am going to rant about some changes you can bring in your BEAUTY routine during this summer.

1. Have lots of water: This may sound repetitive but trust me, your skin loves water. Hydrated skin looks best, no matter what. So, go ahead, drink another glass of water and don’t skip moisturizer! Go ahead and have those melons, water melons, litchis, cucumbers, tomatoes and mangoes! 😉 They are yummy and rich in water!

2. Moisturizer: Just because you are gonna sweat, is no reason for you to skip this essential part! Replace your normal moisturizer, if needed, with a light gel based moisturizer. I live in India and fellow ladies, Lotus Herbals White Glow Whitening and Brightening Gel Creme is amazingly lightweight and moisturizes well. By the way, I have combination to oily skin. I also like using Pure Aloe Vera Gel and Pure Cucumber Gel (by Green Leaf) as moisturizers. They nourish the skin yet don’t make the skin unnaturally oily.

3. Sunscreen: It is a must! Sun causes spots and wrinkles among other things! Before, stepping in the Sun, whether or not you are going to cover your face, apply sunscreen. I prefer matte formula as it doesn’t run despite the sweat. I go with VLCC Matte Look Sunscreen Lotion in the Pineapple variant.

4. Incorporate some sandalwood stuff in your routine: Try going with Sandalwood based soaps this season, as they tend not to be oily, do a great job of making you feel clean and fresh. I love Mysore Sandal Soap. Also, you can add some sandalwood powder ( Purchase it as it is or get some sandalwood and powder it by rubbing it against a mortar and use the wood as pestle. You can use it with any face mask, be it homemade ( Yoghurt, Cucumber, Oatmeal, Rice Floor) or ready made.

5. Separate Pre- and Post- Sun Exposure Face routine: Before stepping in the Sun, go with your moisturizer and sunscreen. After coming back, splash some cold water on your face, wash your face and apply some soothing after sun gel/cream. Put up a waterproof Sunscreen before going swimming!

6. Exfoliate and Treat: Do not skip exfoliation as the sweat and dirt might build up in your pores. I have a Sandalwood Scrub too, Ha Ha! I am crazy after the wonders Sandalwood offers your skin! Treat your skin with DIY homemade face masks. Your skin might feel parched and Yogurt, Cucumber, Oatmeal, Banana do amazing things to your skin. Go with some Apple based and Citrus fruits (Lemon, Orange) masks to brighten your skin. Go with Fuller’s Clay based mask to matte-fy and freshen up your face!

That’s all!

Let me know if you tried out these tips and how you felt about them in the comments!

Love! Happy Summer!

Till next time! Hugs!

The 3 “OTHER ways” to use BB Sticks/ Creams + A mini review

ImageHello there! 🙂

Today, I am going to rant abut something that I have been quite enjoying recently.

I got Maybelline BB Sticks recently. In India, only two variants were launched ( Fawn-Darker, Radiance- Lighter) and I got both of them, as neither of them matched my skin tone and i figured that if I would mix them up, I would get the desired result.

Mini statement about the product: Maybelline BB sticks are just another of MNY’s phenomenal products. A clear progress from their BB creams, these BB sticks are perfect for summer when creams can be a bit greasy. They “magically” transform into powder on application and lend a very natural and matte look which is fabulous!

So, apart from using BB sticks as foundation, you can use them (Ones which do not match your skin tone) in the following ways.

1. HIGHLIGHTING: You can use the lighter stick slightly above the apples of your cheeks, where you would apply your highlighter. It would act as a great matte highlighter. Be warned, do not use a very very light shade as that might give a stark appearance, 2-3 shades lighter color would do. Apply the same on the bridge of your nose, on your cupid’s bow, little on your forehead and your chin, a tad bit on above your brow’s beginning (the ends which lie beneath your forehead).

Do not forget to blend well, and remember that little goes a long way, so start by taking little amounts and you can always work up the intensity.

2. A CLEAN EYE LOOK: For your eyes, if you do not want much of drama but a clean fresh look, apply the lighter shade in the inner corner to add some light to you eyes. Also, it would make your eyes look more awake. Rather than using white shimmery eye shadows, you can go with this if you want a more natural look. Use lighter shade on the middle of your eye lid to give that area some light. Instead of a shimmery eye shadow, you can go with a lighter shade of BB for a more natural highlight. Similarly, a darker shade can be used to make your eyes look deep set. You can use these below the lower lash line as well. You can use BB creams as concealers and also as light primers for eye kohl or eye liners.

3. FOR CONTOURING: After highlighting, you can use a darker shade of BB stick (@-3 shades darker) around your temples, below the cheekbone, and along your jaw for a more natural bronzed effect and as a contouring product.

So, these are the three other ways I use my BB Sticks for!

I hope you try these out and let me know what you think of them. If you like these tips and have others to share, please leave them in the comments below.

Until next time, Keep smiling!

10 uses of Olive Oil- A beauty Miracle

images (1)

Hello there! 🙂

So today, I am going to post about the various beauty uses of olive oil. Extra Virgin variety of the same is recommended as it is non-comedogenic, that is, it won’t clog your pores or break you out!

1. It can be used as a hair mask. You an use it alone or with other oils like coconut oil or castor oil or almond oil. However, while washing it out remember to apply lathered shampoo on dry hair as otherwise it might be tough to get it out.

2. You can use it as skin moisturizer, alone if the climate or weather is cold; and mix it with your regular moisturizer if your skin is oily or the weather is not as cold. Oilier your skin, lesser must be the quantity you use on your skin.

3. You can apply it as your lip balm, or with your lip balm. Apply it at night if you are not cool with showing oily lips outdoors.

4. It can be used as a makeup remover. Put a little on a cotton bud or cotton swab or wet wipe, and use it as your regular makeup remover.

5. You can also use it with coconut or jojoba oil as an under eye night cream. But first make sure that it does not break you out.

6. Apply it on your elbows or hands or feet to shun dry skin and moisturize.

7. Before sleeping, take it on a cotton bud, apply it on your eyebrows and eyelashes ( as a eyeliner- for upper lashes ) sparingly for conditioned brows and lashes.

8. It can be applied on the lateral sides of your nose to remove any dryness and condition the skin.

9. A little bit of it can be mixed with Aloe gel and applied after waxing or threading or plucking.

10. It can be applied on your nail cuticles to make them soft.

In case you know some other uses of Olive oil or like any of the other tips, please let me know in the comments.

Till next time! Cheers!

DIY Hair Mask! Eliminates “FRIZZ” and leaves back “HEALTHY SOFT HAIR”!

Hello there!

My name is Twinkle! And I am an average college going girl.

I am into beauty, personal grooming and makeup a lot.

So, I decided to blog about my views on beauty tips, makeup, personal grooming and more.

Here goes the first one!

I know that many people are all into using yogurt, olive oil, coconut oil, castor oil etc as hair masks. They do work. But, personally for me, this mask has worked the best. It has been a week since I used it and I can still see and feel its effect on my hair. It  feels soft and healthy!

Shikakai, Amla (Indian Gooseberry) and Reetha are some Indian herbs which are used by many Indians for healthy hair. They repair and condition the hair.

I have always been a beauty fanatic and try out almost all the promising looking shampoos and conditioners. Till now, I have really loved only two: Wella’s Enrich and Organix’s Pomegranate and Green Tea conditioners.

So, looking at how much I was spending on other useless hair products, my dad recommended me these alternatives. I didn’t try these until I spotted their powdered mixture in my local departmental store. You can get their separate powders and also the mixture of all in any Indian store. You can either get the herbs, dry them and powder them or you can buy readily powdered herbs/mixture from any Indian grocery store.

How to use it?

1. Take the powder, according to your hair’s length and volume, in a bowl.

2. Mix water, or yogurt.

3. You can add 1-2 tbsp of your favorite oils like coconut oil. I like adding Coconut Milk and Navratna’s Extra Cool Oil. I love how the oil gives a cooling sensation!

4. Mix, mix, mix and apply.

5. It might be a bit tricky to get this mask out of your hair as the powder’s particles might be a little gritty to wash out. But with 2-3 attempts at shampooing and patience, you might get it all out.

6. Follow with your conditioner. Air dry your hair!

This mask REALLY works for me. However, the results may vary from person to person.

Also, some Shikakai powders “might” stain your hair dark brown. Mine didn’t, but some may, if they have Mehndi mixed in them. So, if you have highlights, you might want to look into that.

That is it. Please let me know if you give it a shot and what results you noticed.

Till next time!

Hugs! 🙂
